Achatina achatina is the biggest species of genus Achatina and also the biggest land snail in the world. It can reach shell length of 30 cm, but the largest specimens in captivity are up to 20 cm. Breeding of this snail in captivity is without problems. Speed of growth is slower in comparison with snails from genus Lissachatina and species Achatina achatina attain full size usually in two years. It can have about 500 eggs in the clutch and incubation takes normally approximately four weeks.
