The Central American wood turtle is a medium-sized semi-aquatic tortoise, which stands out for its colourful shell, head and limbs. It spends more time in the water when young and moves more onto land as it grows. Even so, it is a good idea to place a pool in the breeding tank for the adults so that the turtles can get wet when they want to. They are not picky about food and are almost herbivorous as adults.
